Wellborn is located in North Central Florida in eastern Suwannee County, near the border of Columbia County. It is about halfway between Lake City and Live Oak just off Highway 90. Wellborn’s close proximity to I-10 and I-75 makes it a convenient travel distance from Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Valdosta and Gainesville, with Orlando and Tampa both less than three hours away. Fishing in the rivers or lakes and swimming in the many neighboring springs are major pastimes.

The first records of Wellborn’s settlement begin around the 1840s, and Wellborn was a railroad station as early as the 1860s. Many of today’s Wellborn families can trace their roots back to this period of time.

Since 1994, the annual Wellborn Blueberry Festival, which takes place in downtown Wellborn’s Andrews Square, has served to celebrate the harvest of blueberries in the summer, and as a primary fundraiser to support the goal to enhance community life in Wellborn and its surrounding areas.
